Symptom
When performing a search, Item Details iView is not refreshed, and displays the previous selected record – the last record that was selected in the Result Set by the user

Reason and Prerequisites
This behavior is by-design. This design was implemented with performance considerations in mind. Updating Item Details iView only after the desired record is selected by the portal user in the Result Set, reduces the number of unnecessary Item Details refreshes considerably. This is because, in the case of “rich” Item Details (many fields and tabs assigned to the Item Details), each refresh action could result in a few seconds wait time, impairing the user experience.
Typically a search scenario would involve several drill-down steps.
With the current design, the user is spared unnecessary Item Details refreshes, and only when satisfied with his result set, selects the record and only then the Item Details is refreshed to display the relevent record.
Solution
This behavior is by-design. In the next service pack (MDM 7.1 SP3, MDM 5.5 SP06 Patch05) it is planned to provide another configurable option for determining Item Details refreshing logic.
You may also consider having the Item Details iView closed by default, and only on need basis, the portal user will open the iView.
This approach can be achieved by setting the Item Details initial state to be Closed (this property can set in the Item Details property editor) and also modify the iView meta attributes (attribute named: “inheritance” and its value is: “Can be edited in target Objects”) and changing it to: “Locked in Target Object”, which will result in the Item Details iView collapse/expand not open for end user personalization.
