SAP EP – Netweaver Portal

Symptom

When using transaction iView with SAP GUI Type set to ‘SAP GUI for Windows’, parameters forwarded to the application could only be sent with English characters (ISO-8859-1 encoding).
Support for other languages was added, allowing the customers to choose the encoding they would like to use for parameters forwarded to the back end (e.g. application parameters)
Limitations:

1. UTF is not supported with SAP GUI launched from the portal, therefore choosing UTF as the character encoding will be ignored and the default, ISO-8859-1 (English) will be used.
2. When you change the encoding on the portal, you should be sure that the back end (SAP GUI) supports this encoding.

Solution

The enhancement will be released in the following versions:
- NW 7.0 SP17 and above.
- NW0 7.0 EhP1 SP2 and above.
- NW 7.2
